Can Dogs Eat Cabbage?

Yes. Dogs, in particular, seem to like it. Purple, savoy, and other types of cabbage, high in antioxidants, are wholly innocuous and even beneficial for canines to ingest and digest.

Additionally, it is good for the digestive system, the skin, and the fight against cancer. If you want to avoid flatulence in your dog, introduce it slowly and only give him a tiny quantity, such as a sprinkle of chopped cabbage on top of his dinner, at first.

Cabbage offers the same dangers to dogs as it does to humans: consuming an excessive amount of this leafy green vegetable can induce stomach pain and symptoms such as excessive gas and flatulence, as well as hypothyroidism.

Dogs should not be allowed to ingest vast quantities of anything, even if that stuff is good for them somehow. As far as is reasonably feasible, speak with your veterinarian before feeding your dog cabbage or any other “human food” because your veterinarian may be able to give recommendations based on your dog’s unique health needs.

When introducing a new food, such as cabbage, a good rule of thumb is to start with a bit and observe your dog for about 24 hours for symptoms that the meal is not agreeing with him, such as watery excrement.
