Can Dogs Eat Lemons?

No. For starters, dogs do not care for the flavor of sour citrus fruits such as lemons and limes at all.  The citrus fruit, such as lemons, contains psoralen components as well as aromatic oils that are poisonous to dogs and can make them vomit.

Unusually, dogs will consume a lemon on their own initiative.

Immediately notify your veterinarian if any of the following symptoms are seen in your dog:

  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Extremely sensitive to the light

Can dogs consume lemon juice?

Consequently, dogs should not be permitted to consume lemon juice, as lemon juice is equally as acidic as lemons and should not be consumed. Additional side effects of high citric acid and sugar include vomiting and diarrhea if consumed in large enough quantities.

To be on the secure side, stay away from anything and anything that contains the word lemon. You may provide your dog with different fruits in addition to lemons, and water can be used to keep him hydrated.
